EG350 Wood-Mizer Multirip Board Edger

EG350 Wood-Mizer Multirip Board Edger

Sawmills & Primary Processing

The Wood-Mizer EG350 board edger is a powerful, dual-function machine designed to boost sawmill productivity by combining edging and multirip capabilities. Built on proven designs, the EG350 maximizes yield from each log, offering efficiency and precision.

The EG350 can process cants up to 100 mm thick and 550 mm wide, delivering a maximum cutting width of 420 mm between blades. This enhanced capacity allows for handling larger material, setting it apart from smaller models.

The EG350 can be used in one of these modes:

Edging Mode โ€“ Equipped with two blades (400 mm diameter), one fixed and one movable, for edging rough boards to the desired width.

Multirip Mode โ€“ Up to five blades can be mounted on a special sleeve with spacers that adjust the width of the final product. Blade spacers are available in various widths and can be customized upon request.

The infeed mechanism features a double roller system for handling multiple thicknesses. The lower roller handles material up to 65 mm thick, while the upper roller accommodates between 65-100 mm. Adjustable bumpers allow the operator to preset roller height, ensuring smoother feeding, especially when dealing with cants of consistent thickness. On the outfeed side, a 200 mm diameter roller on a pivoted bracket facilitates easier cant feeding by reducing manual effort.

The powered feed (2-20 m/min) helps to maintain the optimal speed of the material that enters the machine, depending on the wood species and cutting conditions. Four powered rollers inside feed the material and press it down for increased cutting stability.

The EG350 has two rows of anti-kickback fingers, which protect the operator from accidental splinters that might be thrown out inside the machine.

The EG350 features an optional laser alignment system with one fixed and one adjustable laser to ensure precise cuts. A scale (metric and imperial) is included above the infeed slot for manual measurements.

Its modular roller tables (each 1.8 meters) simplify material handling and can be extended. One infeed table is standard, with additional modules available.

Powered by an 18.5 kW or 22 kW motor, the EG350 easily handles thick hardwoods.

Underneath the machine, thereโ€™s a sawdust box that can collect dust from three sides. The box is designed to work with a universal, efficient dust extraction system.

The mobile operator panel allows users to place it near the machine conveniently. It features an emergency stop, a switch to toggle between manual and Setworks modes, and two additional buttons for blade movement and width adjustment in manual mode. The panel includes simple and efficient Setworks that automatically adjust cutting width.

Applications

hardwood flatsawn finishing

medium workshop

Hardwood processors edge-trim and width-grade flatsawn boards (40โ€“420 mm widths, 16โ€“100 mm thickness) in a single pass, using electric blade positioning to remove defects and sort material to finished dimensions. Variable feed speeds (0โ€“25 m/min) accommodate premium hardwoods requiring slower, cleaner cuts.

cant edging and ripping

medium workshop

Regional sawmills use the EG350 to process freshly sawn cants (up to 100 mm ร— 550 mm) by first removing wane edges in edging mode, then immediately ripping the squared material into 2โ€“5 parallel boards via multirip mode. This eliminates material transfer and secondary handling, increasing throughput to 15โ€“20 mยณ/day while reducing kerf waste.

custom millwork edging

small workshop

Specialty millwork and solid wood workshops use the EG350's edging mode to prepare kiln-dried boards for furniture and door components, removing saw marks and cupping from edges before profiling or mortising. The 80 cm minimum length and 16 mm minimum thickness capability suit small-volume, high-value custom work.

softwood construction lumber grading

industrial workshop

Large regional mills integrate the EG350 into primary processing lines to edge and grade construction-grade softwood (spruce, pine, fir) in standard widths. The multirip capability transforms rough-sawn stock into market-ready widths while the four powered rollers maintain feed consistency across high-volume runs of 50+ boards/hour.
