A 5-axis CNC machining centre with mobile gantry structure designed for the production of X-lam/CLT walls, floors, and curved glulam beams.
The Area X is a 5-axis CNC machining center featuring a mobile gantry structure purpose-built for large-scale timber construction element production. It processes cross-laminated timber (CLT/X-lam) panels, solid wood floors, and curved glulam beams with simultaneous multi-axis capability, enabling complex geometries, undercuts, and compound angles in a single setup. The machine accommodates workpieces up to 36,000 mm in length and 3,600 mm in width, with material thickness ranging from 20 to 360 mm, making it suitable for full-size wall and floor panels without secondary repositioning. The routing unit delivers 30 kW (S1) at speeds up to 12,000 rpm with 47.7 Nm torque, supported by HSK 80F tool attachment and a 15-piece automatic tool changer for unattended production cycles. A 1,020 mm sawblade diameter enables straight and curved cutting operations on laminated and solid timber in a single pass. Area X targets industrial-scale timber construction manufacturers and prefabrication plants producing volumetric housing components, engineered timber assemblies, and architectural curved elements. The machine is engineered for production runs of 100+ units monthly where panel consistency, dimensional accuracy, and reduced material waste directly impact profitability. Its gantry design allows rapid material loading/unloading while maintaining precision tolerances critical for tight-fitting CLT and glulam assembly.
