MB200 Slab Flattener

Solid Wood Processing

The SlabMizer MB200 Slab Flattener efficiently surfaces and flattens wood slabs, boards, burls, and cookies with minimal labor. It features powered cutter head directional controls with variable feed speed for faster processing than traditional routers or planers.

The MB200 Slab Flattener is a stationary wood surfacing machine designed to efficiently flatten and surface wide, thick wood slabs, burls, cookies, and rough-sawn boards in a single operation. The machine features a powered orbital sanding head with 177 mm diameter that removes material incrementally while maintaining consistent surface quality across large workpieces. Unlike handheld sanders or traditional jointers, the MB200 combines precision depth control with powered X and Y axis movement via joystick directional controls, enabling operators to work material across the entire table extension length of 1520 mm without manual repositioning of the workpiece.

The machine's technical specifications support controlled stock removal with a cutting depth adjustable from 0.40 mm to 3.17 mm per pass in 0.40 mm increments, allowing both aggressive material reduction and fine finishing passes. The four adjustable clamps secure material firmly on the heavy-duty welded steel frame, preventing shifting during operation. Integrated dust extraction through a 101.6 mm diameter port ensures effective chip and dust management, reducing cleanup time and improving shop air quality. The variable feed speed system optimizes material removal rates based on wood species, moisture content, and desired surface finish.

The MB200 serves small to medium woodworking operations and specialty mills that process wide stock materials—particularly those working with figured wood, live-edge slabs, or reclaimed timber where material value justifies precision surfacing. This machine is ideal for workshops producing custom furniture, live-edge tabletops, decorative panels, or architectural millwork components where traditional four-square milling is impractical for oversize or irregular geometries. The mid-range price point and minimal labor requirement make it accessible to operations ranging from artisan woodworkers to contract mills processing 10-30 slabs weekly.

Applications

live edge slab processing

medium workshop

Custom furniture makers and specialty mills flatten live-edge and figured wood slabs for tabletops, wall installations, and architectural features. The MB200's 1520 mm table extension and adjustable 0.40–3.17 mm cutting depth enable controlled processing of irregular, high-value material without excessive stock loss, producing market-ready surfaces ready for finishing.

custom furniture tops

small workshop

High-end furniture makers flatten and finish custom wood tops—including book-matched veneers, burl inserts, and thick slabs—to exacting flatness tolerances before edge treatment and final finishing. The incremental 0.40 mm depth control supports both aggressive stock removal and fine surface preparation without sanding tearout.

reclaimed timber milling

medium workshop

Operations processing reclaimed wood, barn beams, and salvaged stock use the MB200 to surface material with variable thickness and density before ripping or edge-gluing. The powered cutter head and joystick X-Y axis control handle warped or cupped boards that cannot run through standard planers, while the clamp system secures awkwardly shaped pieces.

specialty veneer substrate

industrial workshop

Contract mills and architectural panel producers flatten substrate material and specialty wood panels in batch operations, feeding multiple pieces through sequential passes. The 101.6 mm dust extraction and powered feed system support production runs of 20–50 pieces daily with minimal operator intervention.
