SAWTEQ S-320 flexTec

Panel Processing โ€” Homag Group

A revolutionary automated cutting cell for custom cutting single panels in batch size 1 production. Redefines parts flow in order-based production with fully automated processes and unlimited recuts.

The SAWTEQ S-320 flexTec is a fully automated panel cutting cell designed for precision division of individual panels in order-based, batch-size-1 production environments. The system integrates an industrial robot for automatic panel handling with a stationary cutting head, eliminating manual material positioning and enabling continuous, unattended operation across multiple cutting cycles without operator intervention between parts.

The machine delivers technical precision across a working area of up to 4,300 mm cutting length and 2,200 mm panel width, accommodating panel dimensions up to 4,300 ร— 2,200 mm depending on configuration. The 58 mm saw blade projection provides controlled depth-of-cut capability for both through-cuts and partial-depth operations on composite panels, solid wood, and engineered materials. The integrated material flow management system maintains process continuity, automatically positioning panels for multiple recuts from a single input without manual repositioning, reducing cycle time and material waste in custom cutting workflows.

The SAWTEQ S-320 flexTec addresses the operational challenges of small-batch and made-to-order production, particularly in custom cabinet shops, architectural millwork facilities, and panel processors handling SKU-heavy production runs. By automating both panel handling and sequencing logic, the system enables medium to industrial-scale workshops to achieve single-piece customization at near-mass-production efficiency, reducing labor dependency while maintaining flexibility for design variations, custom dimensions, and material mix changes without changeover delays.

Applications

custom cabinet production

medium workshop

Custom cabinet manufacturers use the SAWTEQ S-320 flexTec to process individual panel orders with varying dimensions and cutout specifications without intermediate setup steps. The robot-driven cell automatically positions each panel from the input queue, executes the programmed cutting sequence (including multiple recuts for door panels, side panels, and shelving), and transfers finished parts to the output stream, enabling one operator to manage multiple orders simultaneously while maintaining mm-level accuracy for frame-and-panel assembly.

flexible job shop manufacturing

medium workshop

Job shops producing custom furniture, retail fixtures, and specialty wood products use the SAWTEQ S-320 flexTec to absorb production variance without dedicated production lines. The machine accepts mixed material types and custom dimensions directly from CAM software, automatically sequences cuts for maximum efficiency, and requires no tool changes or operator reorientation between orders, enabling smaller facilities to compete on delivery speed and cost flexibility in made-to-order markets.

architectural millwork batch cutting

industrial workshop

Architectural woodworking facilities processing custom-dimension panels for built-ins, wall paneling, and specialty joinery use the system to handle batch orders with no two panels identical. The 4,300 mm cutting length accommodates full-width architectural panels, while the unlimited recut capability allows complex part nesting and minimizes waste when cutting door rails, stiles, panels, and trim components from single large stock pieces across multiple job orders.

engineered panel processing

industrial workshop

Panel processors and distributors cutting melamine, MDF, plywood, and veneered substrates into customer-specified dimensions leverage the flexTec's precision blade projection (58 mm) and automated handling to process high-variety, low-quantity orders without manual plate positioning between cuts. The system's material flow integration reduces handling labor and enables consistent edge quality across production runs of decorative panels, furniture components, and fit-to-order board stock.
