Topset XXL

Solid Wood Processing — SCM Group

An automatic throughfeed moulder designed to process beams, prismatic profiles, frames, and linear parts for windows, doors, and furniture applications. Offers flexible moulding and planning capabilities with adjustable feed speeds and multiple spindle configurations.

The Topset XXL is an automatic throughfeed moulder engineered for high-precision processing of solid wood beams, profiles, and linear components. As a throughfeed system, it automatically feeds workpieces through multiple processing stations in a single pass, eliminating manual handling and enabling consistent dimensional accuracy across batches. This machine is purpose-built for operations requiring simultaneous planing and profiling in a continuous workflow.

The Topset XXL accommodates finished workpiece dimensions from 20–320 mm in width and 10–200 mm in thickness, with feed speeds adjustable between 4–40 m/min to optimize surface finish and production rate. Its routing unit features spindles rotating at 6000, 8500 (optional), or 6000–12000 rpm (HSK option), with vertical spindle adjustment of up to 100 mm and horizontal adjustment of 60 mm, enabling complex multi-axis profiling and moulding operations. Tool diameters range from 100–250 mm for profiling work, with planing spindles operating in the 120–165 mm diameter range, providing flexibility for both fine detail work and heavy stock removal.

This machine is suited for medium to industrial woodworking operations producing window and door frames, furniture components, architectural mouldings, and garden building profiles at consistent volumes. Operations requiring simultaneous planning and profiling—such as frame stock preparation with integrated edge details, or trim production with routed decorative profiles—benefit from the Topset XXL's multi-spindle configuration and automatic feed precision. The machine's adjustable motor capacity (7.5–40 kW) scales to accommodate varying material densities and tool loading, making it adaptable across softwoods, hardwoods, and engineered timber products.

Applications

custom millwork

medium workshop

Custom millwork shops producing bespoke furniture components, cabinet frames, and linear architectural elements benefit from the Topset XXL's ability to process variable profile geometries on a single setup. The horizontal and vertical spindle adjustments (60 mm and 100 mm respectively) enable right-side and top-surface profiling, while the worktable height of 950 mm provides ergonomic operator access for quick tool changes and setup adjustments between short production runs.

window door production

industrial workshop

The Topset XXL processes frame stock and stile/rail components for window and door manufacturing with integrated planning and profiling in one pass. Workpieces at 20–80 mm width and 30–80 mm thickness can be fed continuously at 15–25 m/min, with vertical spindles producing routed rabbets, glazing grooves, and weatherseal profiles while horizontal spindles handle edge moulding. High spindle speeds (up to 12000 rpm with HSK) deliver the fine surface finish required for finish-ready components.

timber construction elements

industrial workshop

Heavy-duty processing of timber construction profiles—such as garden building beams, gazebo components, and structural trim—leverages the Topset XXL's maximum 320 mm width and 200 mm thickness capacity, paired with motor options up to 40 kW for demanding hardwood cutting. Continuous feed operation at medium speeds (12–18 m/min) ensures high throughput for volume orders while maintaining dimensional consistency across batches.

architectural moulding production

medium workshop

Furniture and architectural shops use the Topset XXL to produce moulded trim, crown stock, and decorative profiles from softwood and hardwood blanks (50–200 mm thickness). The machine's adjustable feed speed (4–40 m/min) allows slower passes for complex profiling without tool deflection, while the 100 mm vertical spindle adjustment accommodates multi-stage cuts for elaborate edge details and surface texturing.
