L'invincibile S 7

Solid Wood Processing โ€” SCM Group

A customized thicknessing planer solution combining Italian creativity with advanced technical research. Offers flexible cutterhead options for superior wood processing performance.

The L'invincibile S 7 is a precision thicknessing planer engineered for solid wood processing in mid-range production environments. It functions as a finishing and dimensioning tool, capable of reducing and surfacing lumber and solid wood components to exacting tolerances across a 630 mm working width. The machine is built on SCM Group's decades of Italian manufacturing expertise, delivering reliable performance for operations requiring consistency and surface quality.

The machine's core technical advantage lies in its dual-cutterhead system: operators can swap between TERSA straight-knife geometry (4 knives, 630 x 35 x 3 mm) for clean, traditional finishes, or XYLENT spiral helical configuration (84 micro-knives, 15 x 15 x 2.5 mm each) for superior surface quality and reduced tearout on figured or difficult grain. Both cutterheads mount on 120 mm diameter blocks. The 15 Hp three-phase motor supports feed rates from 4โ€“20 m/min, allowing operators to balance throughput against finish quality. Maximum stock removal per pass is 8 mm, with minimum working height of 3.5 mm and maximum 300 mm, covering components from thin veneered panels to solid dimensional lumber.

The L'invincibile S 7 serves medium-sized woodworking operationsโ€”cabinet makers, custom furniture producers, and architectural millwork shopsโ€”processing 5โ€“50 employees with 20โ€“100 pieces per shift. It is well-suited for hard and exotic species, figured woods, and mixed batches where surface quality cannot be compromised. The flexible cutterhead design reduces setup time when alternating between production runs, making it cost-effective for shops avoiding dedicated machinery per operation.

Applications

architectural millwork

medium workshop

Millwork shops producing custom trim, mouldings, and architectural components rely on the machine's tight tolerance capability (ยฑ0.05 mm achievable at mid-range feed rates) and 3.5โ€“300 mm height range to process both thin veneer-backed stock and solid hardwood blanks. The 8 mm maximum removal per pass allows conservative feeds on delicate, figured woods common in high-end interiors without surface defects.

custom furniture production

medium workshop

Furniture makers use the L'invincibile S 7 to thickness-plane solid wood components (tabletops, chair parts, cabinet frames) from rough mill stock to finished dimension, typically 10โ€“50 mm thickness. The switchable TERSA and XYLENT cutterheads allow runs of walnut or cherry to be finished with the spiral helical system (superior grain handling), then switched to TERSA knives for ash or oak when surface quality permits faster feed rates. Output: 40โ€“80 components daily per 8-hour shift.

solid wood crafting

small workshop

Small artisan and bespoke woodworking shops use the L'invincibile S 7 as a versatile thicknesser for one-off and low-volume specialty work in exotic or highly figured timbers. The helical cutterhead excels on difficult grain, and the machine's flexibility to handle stock from 3.5 mm (thin panels) to 300 mm (architectural blanks) eliminates the need for multiple machines, reducing capital investment and floor space.

cabinet making

medium workshop

Cabinet makers dimension and surface solid wood frame, panel, and component stock (door frames, stiles, rails, shelf blanks) with repeatable results across batches. The 630 mm width accommodates European-standard panel widths, and the 4โ€“20 m/min feed range allows fast throughput on stable species while protecting premium hardwoods with slower, XYLENT-equipped passes that reduce surface planning time in finishing departments.
