Minimax LS
Solid Wood Processing โ SCM Group
Belt sander with double gooseneck designed for craftsmen and professional woodworking workshops. Features excellent stability and precision with a heavy-duty structure.
The Minimax LS is a professional-grade belt sander engineered for precision sanding of solid wood components in dedicated woodworking facilities. Built around a dual gooseneck configuration, the machine delivers consistent stock removal and surface finishing across large workpieces with minimal vibration, supported by a heavy-duty cast-iron frame and rigid construction.
The machine operates with a dual-speed belt system capable of 29 or 59 feet per second, accommodating both aggressive stock removal and fine finishing passes on the same job. The working table measures 98.4 x 43 inches with a vertical stroke of 23 inches, enabling processing of solid wood boards, panels, and shaped components up to those dimensional constraints. The 279-inch belt length and 32-inch gooseneck depth provide the reach and access required for medium-format solid wood processing. Power is supplied through a 4.8 Hp three-phase main motor, with an independent 0.6 Hp table-lifting motor for controlled, repeatable vertical positioning during both manual and semi-automated operations.
The Minimax LS is designed for mid-sized woodworking operationsโshops with 5โ30 employees engaged in furniture components, cabinet-grade work, and custom millwork. It suits operations processing 50โ200 daily workpieces requiring uniform thickness, edge finishing, or surface preparation before staining or finishing. The machine is particularly well-suited to hardwood and engineered solid wood where surface quality and dimensional accuracy are non-negotiable. Its stability and precision make it suitable for operations that blend custom craftsmanship with production-level consistency without the footprint or complexity of fully automated systems.
Within its category, the LS occupies the mid-market professional tierโexceeding small craft sanders in power and working surface while remaining more flexible and cost-effective than industrial automated belt sanders designed for high-speed continuous production.

Applications
solid wood crafting and custom millwork
small workshopSmaller high-end shops and master craftspeople use the LS to achieve the surface finish and dimensional accuracy expected in bespoke furniture and architectural woodwork. The low-vibration, rigid construction ensures consistent results on figured, grain-sensitive, and high-value hardwoods, with the flexibility to switch belt speed within a single project or to hand-finish specialty components.
timber edge and profile finishing
medium workshopThe LS's dual gooseneck design and 32-inch working depth make it effective for edge sanding and light profile refinement on timber components destined for window frames, architectural trim, or engineered solid wood assemblies. Operators can process linear footage at moderate speeds while maintaining consistent edge quality and chamfers on solid hardwood stock.
furniture component production
medium workshopThe LS excels at preparing and finishing solid wood components for case goods, tables, and seating. Processors can work with tabletops, panels, and shaped legs up to 43 inches wide using the two-speed belt (29/59 fps) to balance removal rate with final surface quality, completing 80โ150 components per day while maintaining tight thickness tolerances across hardwood species.
cabinet door and frame processing
medium workshopCabinet shops rely on the LS to dimension and finish solid wood stiles, rails, and door panels with the precision required for mortise-and-tenon joinery and panel-fit accuracy. The 98.4 x 43 inch table accommodates full-width cabinet components, while dual goosenecks allow operators to sand both faces and edges without repositioning, supporting production volumes of 100โ250 doors and frames weekly.
