Morbidelli M220F

CNC Machining Centers โ€” SCM Group

Advanced CNC machining centre with double drilling head that reduces drilling cycles by 70% compared to other machining centres. Designed for efficient routing, drilling, and edgebanding operations on solid wood elements.

The Morbidelli M220F is a high-performance CNC machining centre engineered for comprehensive woodworking operations including routing, drilling, and edgebanding on panel and solid wood materials. It combines a primary routing unit with independent multi-spindle drilling capability, delivering simultaneous multi-point processing across large workpiece footprints.

The machine features up to 34 independent vertical and 22 independent horizontal drilling spindles operating at 8000 rpm, enabling parallel hole processing that eliminates sequential drilling cyclesโ€”a critical efficiency gain for high-volume production. The primary routing spindle delivers 15 kW (20.5 hp) at 24,000 rpm, while an auxiliary routing unit (4.5 kW at 18,000 rpm) supports secondary operations. Tool capacity reaches 60 places on the automatic changer, and vectorial speed ranges from 56 m/min (Pro-Space configuration) to 78 m/min (Pro-Speed), accommodating both precision work and throughput optimization. Three working area options (3110ร—1620, 3710ร—1620, or 5510ร—1620 mm) scale production from mid-size to full-panel operations.

The M220F is positioned for medium to industrial woodworking facilities processing high volumes of cabinet components, furniture panels, and architectural millwork where drilling and edge preparation represent significant production bottlenecks. Its dual-axis blade units (0โ€“90ยฐ rotation, 6000 rpm) enable edge profiling without tool changes, reducing setup times on complex geometries. This machine class typically serves shops running 2โ€“3 shift operations with annual throughputs in the thousands of components.

Compared to standard single-spindle routing centres, the M220F's multi-spindle drilling architecture reduces total cycle time by 70% on drilling-heavy operations, making it particularly competitive against sequential machining workflows common in traditional cabinet shops scaling to industrial production.

Applications

cabinet component production

industrial workshop

Produces cabinet sides, shelves, and internal components with high-speed routing and parallel drilling. The 34 vertical spindles handle hinge cups, shelf pin holes, and assembly pocket drilling simultaneously across multiple panels in a single feed, reducing component cycle time from 8โ€“10 minutes to 2โ€“3 minutes per part. Typical output: 300โ€“500 cabinet panels per shift.

furniture panel assembly prep

medium workshop

Prepares flat-pack furniture panels with pocket holes, dowel locations, and edge profiling in one pass. The dual blade units (0โ€“90ยฐ articulation) profile edges for veneer application or edge-banding while vertical spindles simultaneously drill assembly holes, eliminating secondary operations. Handles particle board, MDF, and veneer-faced panels up to 5510ร—1620 mm.

architectural millwork doors windows

industrial workshop

Machines solid wood and engineered door frames, window casings, and architectural elements requiring complex routing profiles and multi-axis hole patterns. The 22 horizontal spindles enable simultaneous glass-stop groove drilling and mortise operations, while the primary spindle (24,000 rpm) executes profile routing. Supports custom orders with 60-tool capacity and quick changeover for small-batch production runs.

panel processing flooring substrate

industrial workshop

Processes engineered flooring substrates and plywood panels with through-hole arrays and tongue-and-groove profiling. High vectorial speeds (up to 78 m/min Pro-Speed) and independent spindle control allow continuous processing of 3โ€“5 panel batches while maintaining tight tolerances on acoustic holes and locking-system relief cuts. Typical output: 1500โ€“2500 mยฒ of processed substrate per shift.
