DMC SD 300
Sanding & Calibrating โ SCM Group
Ideal for craftsmen and small woodworking companies, the DMC SD 300 performs solid wood calibrating and sanding as well as veneered panel sanding operations.
The DMC SD 300 is a wide belt sander engineered for calibrating and finishing solid wood and veneered panel stock in small to medium woodworking workshops. It delivers consistent thickness reduction and surface preparation across working widths of 950 mm or 1,100 mm, accommodating material thickness from 4 mm to 170 mm, making it suitable for everything from thin veneered substrates to solid dimension stock.
The machine is equipped with a powerful 11 kW (15 kW optional) motor driving sanding belts 970โ1,115 mm wide with a 1,900 mm contact length. Variable feed speed control via inverter (4.5โ9 m/min) enables operators to optimize surface finish quality and material removal rates based on wood species, grain orientation, and stock hardness. This speed flexibility is critical for preventing tearout on figured grain while maintaining productivity on softer species.
The DMC SD 300 serves small production shops and craft-oriented operations processing 4โ8 hour daily runs of custom and semi-custom work. It is ideal for furniture makers, small cabinet shops, and timber finishers who require precision calibrating and finish-sanding without the footprint or cost of larger industrial sanders. The machine handles both solid wood edge grain and veneered panel surfaces, reducing setup complexity for shops processing mixed material types.
In its class, the DMC SD 300 balances versatility with compact operation footprint. Its dual working width options (950 mm and 1,100 mm) provide flexibility for shops with space constraints or those serving diverse customer specifications, while the 170 mm maximum thickness capacity positions it above entry-level units without requiring the investment of full-width industrial platforms.

Applications
furniture production
small workshopSmall furniture makers use the DMC SD 300 to calibrate and finish solid wood components (table tops, cabinet sides, chair frames) to precise thickness tolerances and smooth surfaces before assembly. The variable 4.5โ9 m/min feed speed allows operators to match speed to wood grain direction, reducing tearout on walnut, cherry, and figured hardwoods. Typical output: 15โ25 pieces per 8-hour shift depending on component size and finish requirements.
panel processing
medium workshopMedium-sized panel processors and millwork shops use the DMC SD 300 in production workflows combining solid wood and veneered substrate sanding. The 11 kW motor and inverter-controlled feed handle consistent 6โ8 hour production runs of mixed panel batches (doors, shelving, cabinet components), with the dual working width configuration supporting multiple customer specification profiles.
cabinet making
small workshopCustom cabinet shops employ the DMC SD 300 for preparing panel stock (including plywood and veneer-faced substrates) to specification thickness and sanding veneered surfaces for stain application. The 950 mm or 1,100 mm width options accommodate standard panel widths without edge waste, and the 4โ170 mm thickness range handles both face veneers and substrate material in single passes.
solid wood crafting
small workshopArtisan woodworkers and timber craftspeople use the machine for precision calibrating of dimension stock (4โ50 mm thickness range typical) and finish-sanding of decorative panels and solid wood slabs. The controlled feed speed prevents grain damage on premium hardwoods, ensuring surfaces are ready for hand-finishing or natural oil application.
