EDGETEQ S-358

Edge Banding โ€” Homag Group

High-performance edge banding machine with advanced trimming and gluing units for precise edge processing. Features multiple specialized trimming systems and Quickmelt glue technology for optimal edge joint quality.

The EDGETEQ S-358 is a high-performance edge banding machine engineered for automated edge processing in woodworking manufacturing. It applies and trims edge banding material to panel edges with precision, combining gluing, trimming, and finishing operations in a single pass to eliminate secondary processing steps.

The machine accommodates edge thickness from 0.3โ€“3 mm and strip thickness from 0.4โ€“20 mm, enabling processing of veneer, PVC, ABS, and solid wood edge materials across workpiece thicknesses of 12โ€“60 mm. Operating at feed speeds of 18โ€“28 m/min, the S-358 features multiple specialized trimming unitsโ€”including joint trimming, chamfer/radius trimming, profile trimming, and snipping capabilitiesโ€”that work in coordination to achieve flush, contoured, and finished edges without manual intervention. The Quickmelt adhesive system ensures consistent glue application and rapid bond development, reducing cycle time and improving edge quality.

This machine targets mid-to-large woodworking manufacturers producing cabinet components, furniture panels, and architectural millwork at volumes exceeding 500 units per shift. It is designed for workshops with dedicated edge banding departments where labor cost reduction, edge consistency, and material yield optimization are operational priorities. The dual machine length configuration (6970 mm or 8635 mm) allows integration into both compact and extended production lines.

The S-358 competes in the premium European edge banding segment, positioned above entry-level machines by its multi-function trimming architecture and Quickmelt technology, which reduce operator skill dependency and rework rates compared to single-function or manual-trim alternatives.

Applications

cabinet component production

industrial workshop

The S-358 processes cabinet side panels, shelves, and door frames with PVC or veneer edge banding at 18โ€“28 m/min, handling workpieces 12โ€“60 mm thick. Automated trimming and joint gluing eliminate manual edge finishing, enabling production of 800โ€“1200 finished edge components per 8-hour shift with consistent quality across batch runs.

furniture panel finishing

medium workshop

Furniture manufacturers apply solid wood or ABS edge banding to tabletops, dresser panels, and modular components using the S-358's chamfer and radius trimming capabilities. Processing strips 0.4โ€“3 mm thick ensures seamless edge-to-surface transitions, reducing downstream hand-sanding and improving delivery timelines for mid-volume (200โ€“500 units/week) production.

architectural millwork edging

medium workshop

Custom woodshop producers apply custom-matched edge banding to architectural panels, built-in cabinetry, and specialty millwork. The machine's profile trimming and snipping units accommodate specialty edge profiles and variable strip thicknesses (0.4โ€“20 mm), supporting low-to-medium batch production (50โ€“300 pieces per order) with bespoke finishing requirements.

panel processing batch production

industrial workshop

Large-scale panel processors integrate the S-358 into automated lines to edge-band melamine, MDF, or plywood sheets (12โ€“60 mm) destined for retail furniture kits or OEM supply. Quickmelt gluing and multi-stage trimming ensure defect-free edges on high-volume runs (2000+ panels per shift), minimizing material waste and rework costs.
