LUMINA Industry Edgebander

The LUMINA Industry Edgebander is a fully automated edging system designed for high-volume processing of panel materials with integrated edge banding in a single pass. Built on Weinig's proven platform, it combines laser edge detection (LTRONIC) with Glu Jet precision adhesive application to create invisible, seamless joints between substrates and edging materials—eliminating visible glue lines and surface defects that compromise furniture aesthetics.

The machine's technical foundation rests on 30 NC servo-axes that independently control substrate positioning, edging feed, pressure application, and finishing operations across multiple processing zones. This distributed servo architecture enables simultaneous multi-axis compensation for material variation, thickness tolerance, and edge profile geometry without operator intervention. Feed rates up to 25 m/min allow continuous processing of veneered panels, MDF, plywood, and solid wood edges while maintaining tolerances required for stain-grade and painted finishes.

The LUMINA targets mid-to-large furniture manufacturers and contract processors handling mixed-batch production of cabinet components, kitchen units, and commercial panelwork. It accommodates substrate widths typical of panel stock and processes a wide range of edge materials—PVC, ABS, veneer, and solid wood banding—in single setup configurations. This machine class requires production volumes of 50+ units per shift to justify capital investment and achieves ROI primarily through labor reduction, material waste elimination, and elimination of secondary edge finishing operations.
