Oikos X
CNC Machining Centers — SCM Group
A compact machining centre with 6 interpolating axes designed for machining structural beams and modular wall parts in wood for the building industry.
The Oikos X is a 6-axis CNC machining centre purpose-built for structural timber machining in the building and construction sector. It delivers integrated routing, drilling, and sawing operations on solid wood and engineered timber beams, with the ability to process workpieces up to 9,000–19,000 mm in length and cross-sections ranging from 50 × 20 mm to 1,250 × 300 mm, accommodating weights up to 2,500 kg via automatic loading (4,000 kg manual).
The machine's 6 interpolating axes enable complex 3D profiling and angled cuts essential for prefabricated modular wall panels and roof truss components, while the routing unit delivers up to 25 kW spindle power with integrated sawing capability (600 mm blade diameter maximum). The 18-position tool changer facilitates rapid operation sequencing—routing, drilling, and cross-cutting—without manual intervention, reducing setup time and operator dependency on multi-stage workpieces.
Oikos X serves medium to industrial timber construction workshops and panel manufacturers operating production runs of 50–500+ units monthly. It is optimized for CLT (cross-laminated timber) pre-cutting, solid beam machining for engineered trusses, and modular housing component fabrication where dimensional accuracy and repeatability are non-negotiable. The machine bridges small-batch custom millwork and high-volume industrial production, making it suitable for regional prefab facilities and integrated timber mills expanding into value-added structural components.

Applications
modular wall panel production
industrial workshopDesigned explicitly for modular wall panel manufacturing, the machine routes window/door openings, drills connection holes, and crosscuts panel components (up to 2,500 kg via automatic loading) in a single work cycle. The integrated 25 kW routing spindle and 18-tool magazine enable simultaneous multi-operation sequences, ideal for production runs of 100–300 prefab wall assemblies per month.
timber construction beam machining
industrial workshopThe Oikos X machines structural beams and glulam elements for prefabricated timber frame assemblies, performing notching, pocket drilling, and edge profiling in single setups via its 6-axis capability. Processing beams up to 19,000 mm with cross-sections to 1,250 × 300 mm, it supports high-volume output (200+ beams/month) for roof trusses, floor joists, and load-bearing wall frames supplied to modular construction projects.
architectural millwork fabrication
medium workshopSupports custom architectural timber millwork operations such as exposed beam profiling, decorative notching, and precision boring for architectural trusses and bespoke structural elements. The 6-axis interpolation handles angled cuts and compound geometries on beams up to 19,000 mm, reducing secondary hand-finishing and enabling small batch orders (25–75 units) with CNC repeatability.
engineered timber component cutting
medium workshopIdeal for mid-sized timber processors manufacturing engineered components—plywood edging, LVL (laminated veneer lumber) profiling, and cross-cut operations for panelized construction systems. The 600 mm saw blade capacity and automatic loading handle repetitive crosscutting of 50 × 20 mm to 1,250 × 300 mm workpieces, with automatic tool changing (18 stations) enabling unattended production cycles of 8–12 hours.
