Stefani 60

Edge Banding โ€” SCM Group

The Stefani 60 is an automatic edge banding solution designed for production of narrow, long furniture components such as drawers, fill-in strips, skirting boards, and small shelves.

The Stefani 60 is an automatic edge banding machine purpose-built for production runs of narrow, elongated furniture components where precision edge finishing is critical to product quality. It applies edge materialโ€”whether coil or solid woodโ€”to panel edges with consistent pressure and alignment, eliminating manual edge banding operations and improving throughput on small-footprint workpieces.

The machine accommodates coil thicknesses from 0.3 mm to 3 mm and solid wood edges up to 25 mm, processing panels from 10 mm to 60 mm thick. Its variable feed speed capability ranges from standard operation at 40 m/min up to 70 m/min with the optional Speed Pack, allowing operators to balance production velocity against edge material quality and workpiece geometry. The edgeholder magazine stores 2 to 24 coil stations, enabling rapid material changeovers without complete machine reset. Panel dimensions up to 3200 mm length and 1600 mm width can be processed, with a minimum width threshold of 60 mm, making the machine suitable for drawer fronts, filler strips, architectural trim, and shelving components.

The Stefani 60 targets mid-volume production environments where labor-intensive manual edge banding creates bottlenecks, particularly shops producing custom or semi-custom narrow goods. It is well-suited for facilities handling mixed production batches that require frequent edge material changesโ€”the multi-coil magazine design supports this workflow without significant downtime. This machine class bridges the gap between hand-operated banding tools and fully integrated production lines, making it ideal for contract manufacturers and in-house production departments in medium-sized furniture factories.

Applications

custom plywood finishing

small workshop

Small cabinet shops and custom woodworkers apply edge banding to plywood or MDF components (10โ€“60 mm thickness) to achieve seamless aesthetic edges without manual banding. The variable feed speed and fine coil thickness range (0.3โ€“3 mm) enable consistent results on both thick substrates and delicate veneer applications across short to medium production runs.

drawer front production

medium workshop

Furniture manufacturers producing drawer fronts and drawer components benefit from the Stefani 60's ability to process narrow, lengthwise panels at up to 70 m/min with the Speed Pack. The machine handles the typical 10โ€“40 mm panel thicknesses and accommodates multiple edge material types (veneer coils, ABS, solid wood up to 25 mm) from its 24-coil magazine, enabling rapid job changeovers between drawer styles without operator intervention.

architectural trim edging

small workshop

Joinery shops and millwork operations applying edge banding to skirting boards, architrave, and fill-in strips leverage the Stefani 60's support for panel widths as narrow as 60 mm and lengths up to 3200 mm. The precision edge placement and dual-speed capability (40โ€“70 m/min) ensures consistent finish quality across custom runs, reducing hand-finishing labor and rework.

shelf component finishing

medium workshop

Producers of small shelves and modular shelving systems use the Stefani 60 to automate edge banding on narrow shelf panels and supports. The machine's 60 mm minimum width and maximum 3200 mm length coverage, combined with multi-coil storage, supports mixed-batch production where shelf dimensions and edge material specifications vary frequently across orders.
