WEINMANN Carpentry Machine BEAMTEQ B-660
Timber Construction — Homag Group
The BEAMTEQ B-660 is a fully automated carpentry machine for six-sided timber processing in a single throughfeed operation. It features advanced flexibility with sawing, drilling, and milling capabilities for complex timber construction applications.
The BEAMTEQ B-660 is a fully automated six-sided timber beam processing center designed for single-pass throughfeed operation. It combines sawing, drilling, and milling operations in a continuous workflow, eliminating the need for multiple machine setups and manual repositioning. The machine processes timber cross-sections from 20 × 50 mm to 200 × 455 mm with unprocessed lengths up to 16.5 m, making it capable of handling everything from small structural components to full-length rafters and wall panels.
The B-660 delivers processing flexibility through its FLEX5 rotating and swiveling sawing unit (0-360° rotation, 0-90° swivel), dual main spindles, and 12-slot tool changer system. This configuration enables angled cuts, complex notches, rafter assembly cuts, rip cuts, and side milling in a single pass. The side milling cutter operates at 6.6 kW while the finger trimmer drive unit provides 7.5 kW, ensuring consistent surface quality across hardwood and softwood applications.
This machine targets medium to large timber construction and prefabrication operations that require high throughput with minimal operator intervention. It is ideal for workshops producing roof trusses, engineered wall frames, floor joists, and laminated timber products where dimensional accuracy and repeatable multi-operation processing are critical. The single-pass capability significantly reduces cycle times compared to sequential machine operations, making it economical for batch production volumes of 100+ units per shift.
Within its class, the B-660 occupies the mid-range of six-sided processing centers, offering greater flexibility than fixed-operation beam saws while requiring less floor space and capital investment than fully integrated CNC timber production lines. Its modular approach to tool selection and axis control makes it suitable for shops transitioning from manual or semi-automated production to fully controlled digital manufacturing.

Applications
roof truss manufacturing
industrial workshopThe BEAMTEQ B-660 automates the production of roof trusses by processing all structural members—top chords, bottom chords, and web members—in single passes. The FLEX5 unit's 0-360° rotation enables precise angled cuts (bird's mouths, plumb cuts, heel cuts) required for truss assembly, while the dual spindles handle drilling for connector plate holes and milling of bearing surfaces. Production volumes of 50-100 trusses per shift achieve significant labor and cycle-time savings compared to multi-machine setups.
structural beam customization
medium workshopCustom beam shops serving architects and contractors use the B-660 to produce job-specific cuts and notches—corbels, bearing seats, pocket holes, rip cuts—on glulam and solid sawn beams. The 12-slot tool changer and 5-axis flexibility allow quick job changeover without resetting the machine, making economical production runs of 10-30 identical beams practical for mid-sized operations.
industrial timber batch production
industrial workshopHigh-volume operations producing standardized timber components for construction (floor joists, rafter stock, blocking) leverage the B-660's repeatable single-pass processing to achieve consistent output with minimal setup time. The combination of 6.6 kW side milling and 7.5 kW trimming power ensures quality finishing even on species with varying grain density, supporting production targets of 150+ linear meters per shift.
engineered timber prefabrication
industrial workshopPrefabrication of wall frames, floor systems, and composite timber assemblies benefits from the B-660's ability to process cross-sections up to 200 × 455 mm and lengths to 16.5 m in a continuous operation. Members are automatically cut, drilled for dowels and fasteners, and surface-milled to final specification without intermediate handling, reducing scrap and material damage while maintaining tight tolerances (±2 mm) across large production batches.
