Morbidelli CX100

CNC Machining Centers โ€” SCM Group

The Morbidelli CX100 is a drilling machine designed to perform all drilling operations, grooving, and vertical routing tasks. It features multiple independent spindles for efficient production.

The Morbidelli CX100 is a high-precision CNC drilling and routing centre engineered for multi-spindle production on wooden workpieces. As a specialized machining centre, it executes simultaneous drilling, grooving, and vertical routing operations across standard and custom wood panels, boards, and components with minimal operator intervention.

The machine's primary technical advantage lies in its distributed spindle architecture: 12 independent vertical spindles working in parallel with 6 horizontal spindles (4 in X-direction, 2 in Y-direction) enable multi-axis hole and groove patterns to be completed in a single clamping cycle. The 5.5 kW electrospindle motor delivers consistent cutting performance across hardwoods and engineered materials, while X-Y axis travel speeds of 40 m/min optimize cycle times for high-volume runs. Compatible workpiece dimensions range from 3050ร—900 mm down to 200ร—70 mm, accommodating everything from full-width panels to smaller components.

The CX100 addresses the production demands of mid-to-large woodworking operations requiring repetitive, dimensionally accurate hole and slot patternsโ€”particularly those transitioning from single-spindle or manual drilling to automated, high-throughput machining. It is purpose-built for cabinet makers, furniture manufacturers, and architectural millwork shops processing solid wood and plywood components where drilling precision and production speed directly impact labour costs and throughput.

Within its class, the CX100 balances spindle density with working envelope size, positioning it as a production-focused alternative to larger universal machining centres or smaller single-spindle drilling systems. Its independent spindle configuration allows partial machine utilization for smaller batches without idle spindle penalty, making it economical for shops managing variable order sizes.

Applications

cabinet component production

industrial workshop

The CX100 excels at high-volume drilling of cabinet sides, shelving systems, and assembly components where multiple parallel hole arrays are required for shelf pins, dowels, and hardware mounting. With 12 vertical spindles operating simultaneously, a single pass drills all shelf-pin holes across the full 3050 mm width, reducing cycle time and labour while maintaining tolerance consistency across batches of 50+ identical panels per production run.

window door production

industrial workshop

Window and door frame manufacturers use the CX100 to drill hinge cups, lock mortises, and hardware bores into stiles and rails with 6 independent horizontal spindles coordinating complex X-Y and Z-axis patterns. The machine handles workpieces up to 3050 mm length, enabling frame components and solid wood stiles to be processed without repositioning, improving accuracy and throughput for production volumes of 100+ units weekly.

panel assembly systems

industrial workshop

Manufacturers of RTA (ready-to-assemble) furniture and modular panel systems use the CX100 to drill dowel holes, pocket holes, and fastener bores across large plywood and engineered wood panels. The 12 vertical spindles enable simultaneous drilling of complete assembly hole patterns in a single cycle, with 40 m/min axis speeds supporting production targets of 200+ panels daily while maintaining tight hole tolerances critical for assembly reliability.

architectural millwork custom

medium workshop

Custom millwork and architectural woodwork shops leverage the CX100's multi-spindle capacity to produce bespoke furniture, wall panelling systems, and decorative components featuring complex drilling and routing patterns. The machine accommodates workpiece variation (200โ€“3050 mm length range) while delivering repeatable accuracy for client-specific designs and small-batch runs of 10โ€“50 units, reducing hand-routing labour.
