Stefani Rocket E
Edge Banding — SCM Group
A flexible edgebanding line for processing pre-squared panels designed for companies with moderate production requirements. Offers versatile machining capabilities with single operator functionality.
The Stefani Rocket E is a single-operator edge banding system engineered for processing pre-squared panels in mid-sized production environments. It applies edge protection films and banding materials to panel edges with precision, accommodating workpieces ranging from 250×130 mm to 3000×1200 mm (lengthwise feeding) and 180×250 mm to 1200×3000 mm (crosswise feeding). The machine serves as a flexible manufacturing station rather than a high-throughput automated line, making it suitable for shops managing moderate batch volumes with product variation.
Operationally, the Rocket E distinguishes itself through real-time batch flexibility without program changeover delays. Operators can modify edge banding color, thickness, and protection film type mid-batch without stopping production. Glue dosage adjustment occurs on-the-fly, enabling material optimization across different panel thicknesses and edge specifications. The machine supports panel re-machining capabilities, allowing correction of edge defects or reprocessing of rejected panels without full line reconfiguration. While groove positioning and depth control in flexible mode is not supported, the system excels at managing homogeneous panel batches and permits tool addition during active machining cycles—a critical feature for shops handling mixed SKUs.
The Stefani Rocket E targets custom furniture manufacturers, semi-industrial cabinet makers, and panel processors operating between 15–35 monthly production runs. It performs optimally with solid wood panels, engineered wood products, and MDF requiring consistent edge protection across color and thickness variants. The single-operator requirement reduces labor costs while maintaining edge quality standards, making it particularly valuable for European mid-market operations managing SKU diversity typical of bespoke and semi-custom furniture segments.

Applications
architectural woodwork millwork
medium workshopMillwork shops producing custom interior architectural components—built-ins, wall paneling, decorative surfaces—use the Rocket E to finish pre-squared panels in site-specific wood species and edge protection films. The machine's panel dimension flexibility (up to 3000 mm length) accommodates large wall panels. Mid-batch material changes allow shops to process panels for multiple architectural jobs in a single production session without costly line idle time.
semi industrial cabinet making
medium workshopMid-sized cabinet manufacturers producing 40–80 cabinet units monthly leverage the machine's homogeneous panel management and glue dosage control to maintain edge quality across MDF and plywood substrates. The 3000×1200 mm maximum panel dimension covers standard cabinet box components. Single-operator functionality reduces staffing while the machine handles repetitive edge application; operators focus on panel loading and quality checks rather than machine tending.
custom furniture production
medium workshopCustom furniture shops with 8–25 monthly orders use the Rocket E to edge band varied panel components—tabletops, cabinet sides, shelving—in different wood species and edge colors without production stoppages. The ability to change edge thickness and color mid-batch supports job-shop efficiency; a crew can process walnut panels with walnut edge banding in one cycle, then switch to oak with matching banding in the next without manual program reloading. Panel re-machining capability absorbs quality corrections, reducing scrap.
panel processing job shop
medium workshopPanel processors and service providers offering toll edge banding services depend on the Rocket E's flexibility to manage customer-specified edge materials, colors, and thicknesses across mixed panel batches. The on-the-fly glue and film adjustments eliminate setup time between jobs, and the ability to add panels during machining maximizes throughput when orders arrive mid-shift. Re-machining prevents customer rejections due to minor edge defects.
